Dating Ideas For Gamers

Capturing your personality on a date is very important, especially in the early stages of a relationship. We have found that typical date ideas, like movies or dinner, make it harder to reflect who you are. Dinner can be too much pressure having to talk the whole way through, and in the movies, you do not speak at all. We have pulled together some great date ideas for gamers and geeks to represent better who you are.

Video Game Nights

Play video games (it seems like a no-brainer.) You are both gamers, why not do what you both love and have a game night. It is a simple way to get to know what games your date likes to play. A romantic evening of healthy competition. You want to choose games where you can chat and have fun while playing. You do not want the game to take up all your attention. For a first date, stick to co-op mode, where you can work together rather than a battle. Then you can move on to Mario kart as an easy way to start competing...... .

The Arcade

If you are looking to get out of the house, then visiting the amusements or arcade is a fun date idea. Try out some of the old-school games and get some friendly competition going. It is a great way to loosen up and have fun together. Why not score some bonus romance points and take on the claw machine and win her a stuffed animal. If you do not manage to grab the teddy bear, the thought was still there. Most arcades have bars or places to grab a bite to eat. So, you can extend the date if it is going well.

Comic Book Stores

If you and your date are comic book nerds, the comic book store is where to go. It is a simple date idea, but it is a great setting for a casual date and gives you topics to discuss on your date. You can flick through comics together, and discuss your favourite characters, plot lines, and villains. It is a great way to find out what you have in common.

Gaming Conventions

An option for a truly memorable date is gaming conventions. Who doesn’t love comic con? This super fun idea for a weekend away or a special date, like an anniversary. Whether you and your partner are into video games, TV shows, books, or movies, conventions have something every gamer will love. Conventions are chock full of fun activities, so you will never be bored.

Board Games

As gamers, you probably spend a lot of your time online. On date night, it is time to get offline and spend some quality time together. Board games such as Risk or chess are great games that your date is sure to love. But, if they have never played before, use this as an opportunity to show off your skills and teach them. You can also introduce some role-play with Dungeons & Dragons. Take on the role of fictional characters in an imaginary world. With D&G you will really start bonding as your story unfolds.

Trivia Nights

If you are nervous about seeing your date, make the first meeting a social meet-up and host a trivia night. You can create a trivia night to reflect your favourite video games, TV shows, and more or just general knowledge. Alternatively, many pubs and bars host trivia nights (or pub quizzes) that you can attend. Usually, these are in teams, join up with some of your friends or take on the competition just the two of you. Whether at home or in the pub, trivia nights are a chance to show off your nerd's muscles. Other perfect date night ideas Honourable mentions: VR experience, scavenger hunt, escape rooms.
